Lots of individual debates right outside the conference center, too. It didn't seem like the AIPAC participants I overheard really recognized what the IDF and Israeli military is really doing in their forced expansions and draconian treatment of Palestinians. They were mostly only concerned with Israel's "right" to be there, and asked for concessions on "if Palestinians can be in places like the Gaza Strip, we can be in places like Tel Aviv". Kind of missed the point of why the rally was there.
Some of the AIPAC participants were even asking " Why are you here? Why don't you lobby Congress/representatives too?". Gee, I wonder why... Maybe it's the huge amount of resources AIPAC has at their disposal, which are used to highly influence the process in their favor beyond what a lot of individuals could achieve? Regular people don't have the ability to rent out the Verizon Center to over a thousand people, right after packing a huge convention center... And have a huge police force to escort them. (That's a big deal, a ton of police officers were there on AIPAC's behalf... That doesn't happen with just any citizen groups.)
